Here is a small collection of photos from the fashion events that I organised and coordinated with my sister in the year 2013, (I was almost 20 at the time). My foray into fashion events was brief, and included a few fashion shows and a beauty pageant, Miss Multinational South Australia 2013. As a once duo, me and my sister created the Fashion Event and Styling Brand, The A-Street, which was a bit of a distraction to my tertiary education, but the skills I gained are now clearly invaluable. To be clear, I am absent from most photos (including red carpets) because I was busy behind the scenes coordinating and organising things, but I can be seen on stage in the closing beauty pageant photo (dressed in all black, and pink flats*). Besides event coordination and organisation my skills extend to basic graphic design; runway or ordinary styling (including hair and make aesthetics); and basically anything needed for a fashion event, which in my experience included performances from dance groups and musical artists (clearly, with more resources at my disposal, I would be able to organise and coordinate fashion events suited to more opulent tastes i.e. The A-street was small-scale and not well resourced). The aforementioned is easily grasped from the photo collection below (the photos are taken by me or by a photographer invited to capture the events, and so, I do not claim ownership of their edited photos).
*NOTE: I look a bit different now due to ageing (matured features); different hair (African people wear different hairstyles which can make them look different); weight loss; and photogenic capacity (I do not photograph well, and tend to look different in most photos). To remove doubt about the latter, at the end of the slideshow there is a photo of me in the same outfit as my old profile photo (I basically look like my profile photo/additional photo in real life), and other photos of me just to showcase some of my personal style (evidence of fashion sense and styling skills):
Overall, I have a natural talent and eye for fashion, and so, I want to make use of these skills to help Christian people in multiple ways 1) helping women make their wardrobes Christian friendly (this may be more necessary for younger women); and 2) helping people finding a unique and fashionable look that they are comfortable with (important when old people start looking young again, because the “older person” style won’t match anymore, and so, that people can learn to be comfortable and confident with how they look). The latter would extend into hair and/or beauty because the truth is that most people just need a more flattering hairstyle and the right beauty enhancing makeup techniques (or skin treatments) to bring out the best of themselves. Hence, a lot of people may think they are unattractive (low self-esteem), but a lot of the time it’s just that they do not know how to present their natural features or flatter their body shape. To conclude, to achieve the above the Christian Retreat (Wellness Centre) will aim to have personal styling sessions (my personal styling sessions would be very limited, but other stylists of whom I approve can be invited); Pop-up shops (different designer brands, and other “King’s” favourite brands for shopping sessions - private or group sessions); Fashion shows (showing Christian approved outfits for different occasions, and new Christian friendly collections); basic everyday makeup workshops (makeup artists with the philosophy and talent to highlight natural beauty and not change it, would be invited to teach); and lastly hairstylists to help men and women attain the best look for their features.
